Arts-Science workshops
SPACE Today UK specialise in delivering arts-science workshops to both schools and community groups. At the Kindle Centre in Hereford a 4-day event in June 2007 was enjoyed by families, schools and members of Deaf Direct. The 'Touch the Sun' mural was completed - this involved a 5x5 grid of stretched canvases on which a giant Sun was drawn. Individual artwork was then assembled as a huge mural. A similar technique was used in August with members of Herefordshire Headway.
Magic Planet demonstrations and film-making accompany the hands-on arts approach and the delivery model has been popular with ages from 4 to 84!
In school settings the workshop will often include 'space journalism' with the young people actively using the MP globe and reporting back from different planets in the Solar System - with other students filming their newscasts.
